2000AD - Classic UK comic

For nearly thirty years 2000AD has been at the fore front of the UK comic industry. 2000AD first appeared in 1977 and has generated a very loyal fan base ever since. The comics remarkable longevity is due to the incredible list of creative professionals who have written and illustrated comic strips over the years.

During the 1980's, regarded by many as the comics ' Golden Years ', the role call of writers and artists who worked or got their first professional jobs with 2000AD is like reading a Who's Who of modern comic strip.

One of those talented young men was Cam Kennedy.

The VC's

Cam Kennedy has had the pleasure of working on some great strips for 2000AD, and indeed having a defining presence on many of them. One of Cam's first jobs for 2000AD was The VC's, a futuristic war story written by Gerry Finley-Day. The expressive brush work utilised in this strip show the energy underpinning Cam's work in it's most unrefined form.

Rogue Trooper

The classic Science Fiction war story for 2000AD, also written by Gerry Finley-Day , has always been Rogue Trooper of course, and Cam was the definitive artist on that famous strip, creating all kinds of amazing hardware and characters. Cam's gritty, chunky style was perfect for this strip, and set standards that were never surpassed.

Judge Dredd

Cam has won great acclaim for his artwork on Judge Dredd on several occasions, particularly on the 2000AD classic tale of ' The Midnight Surfer '. The depth of field Cam created in the sprawling city-scape of Mega City One, depicting the events around the ' SuperSurf ' tournament, has never been matched. Many regard Cam as the defining artist for the look of Judge Dredd's city.

The Future...

Cam continues to work for 2000AD and has been involved with many of the ' modern classics ' on Judge Dredd. His longtime partnership with writer John Wagner, and the recent work produced with talented digital artist Chris Blythe, reflect all that is positive about 2000AD in the 21st Century.
